The exploration of megalithic remains in Jorong Tanjung Sawah, Nagari Padang Laweh Malalo, Tanah Datar Regency, has revealed new insights into the region’s archaeological wealth.

In the initial stage, the team identified several significant remains, including ancient graves, stone boundary markers, mortars, stone road structures, and traditional rumah gadang houses with unique architecture. These findings highlight the close relationship between traditional community life and the preserved cultural landscape. The survey continues, as many remains hold strong potential to be designated as cultural heritage sites. With proper management, the area could be developed into a historical tourism destination that not only strengthens local identity but also contributes economically to the community. The Tanah Datar Regency Government is expected to use these findings as a foundation for preservation and development planning, ensuring that the megalithic heritage of Tanjung Sawah becomes both a cultural pride and a source of knowledge for future generations. The research has been start frecuantly from 2018, 2023, 2024 and last in 2025 held in coorporate research with Archaeology Program Studies Andalas University.
